About the project

About Foodji

Foodju is an all-in-one restaurant app.

Challenge

Foodji wanted to create one mobile app that covered everything related to dining out. Customers should be able to reserve tables, order meals ahead, and choose between delivery or pickup—all in one place. Our task was to bring all these features together in a way that was simple and easy to use, without making the app feel too complicated.

What Merge delivered

1) We designed a UX/UI for the Foodji mobile app. 2) Our team crafted an engaging onboarding design and a user-friendly dashboard layout.

Work process

We started by investigating the challenges faced by diners and restaurants. This step helped us form ideas on how to improve and ensure that we were creating useful solutions.

Balancing customer and admin needs

On the customer side, we wanted to make it easy for anyone to order their favorite meal, find a suitable table, and discover new dining experiences. On the admin side, restaurant owners needed a tool to manage reservations, track popular dishes, and understand user behavior at a glance.

The administrative panel featured a two-column layout with sidebar navigation and clearly visualized data. Meanwhile, customers enjoyed a mobile-friendly UI to browse menus, reserve tables, and customize delivery options.

Finding the right visual balance and consistency

One of the project’s key achievements was a unified visual identity that worked across consumer-facing mobile screens and the admin panel. We needed to make sure that finding menus, reserving tables, and ordering meals was still quick and simple. To achieve this, we used plenty of white space and limited our color choices to a warm, golden-yellow accent that guided the eye.

We also picked a clean, modern font and kept the text short and clear. The onboarding screens used a dark background that made the illustrated highlights pop.

Results of collaboration

Three months after launch, Foodji saw a significant rise in users upgrading to paid accounts, reflecting the platform's increasing value to its users.

In conclusion

Three months after its launch, Foodji saw an increase in users upgrading to paid accounts. Monthly active users grew, and their average session length rose, showing that customers enjoyed spending more time in the app. Restaurants using Foodji also reported a significant drop in no-show reservations and a boost in average order value.
