Challenge

The founders wanted a recognisable studio signature that could open every release, feel personal, and stay flexible across social channels, on-set gear, and a marketing site. They pictured a short intro film about a boy who dreams of cinema and grows into an award-winning director. They needed Merge to shape that vision into a clear brand system, guide the creative process, and supply assets the team could use long term.

What Merge delivered

Merge designed a metaphor-driven identity built around two camera lenses and a red recording dot. We produced a complete logo set, an animated studio intro that follows the boy-to-director storyline, a detailed brand book, on-set merchandise examples, and a responsive one-page website.

Figma, Webflow.

Work process

We started with online sessions with the founders to hear their story, future plans, and personal imagery. The open dialogue formed a detailed brief and aligned expectations for everyone.

New branding approach

Working with highly creative founders meant that normal questionnaires were not enough. Instead, we used associative moodboards, which we were told felt like storytelling therapy for the client.

They spoke in emotions rather than specs, which guided every creative choice. By translating those feelings into colour, motion, and layout, we avoided generic studio tropes. This also shortened feedback cycles because the client saw their own words reflected in each visual.

Intro dream sequence animation

In the intro, we needed to compress a lifelong journey into seconds without losing emotional weight. Our storyboard tracks a boy watching stars by the sea, the sky morphing into a camera lens, and the adult director collecting his Oscar.

Smooth transitions tie the scenes together while the red dot signals recording. We balanced abstraction and clarity by keeping silhouettes simple and lighting dramatic.

Outcome

Our work with DGC Production provided the new studio with a complete brand identity. They have now received a unique logo, a detailed brand book, and a professional marketing website. The system we created provides consistency across all materials, including social media, on-set merchandise, and business communications.

Final words

A special thanks to the DGC Production team for their trust and creative collaboration.
